A finesse move is to cap, then gently lower the hammer and press the back of the hammer with firm thumb pressure to "seat" the cap on the nipple, then back the hammer off to half cock. A small piece over the cap should help hold it on and also helps water proof it. Another thing that might help keep them on, get some aquarium tubing and cut into small pieces. Try a different one some 10s is 11s are too big.
They vary from one manufacturer to another. Maybe you need a new nipple or a different brand of caps.
